How Do You Refinish A Metal Bed Frame?
Keeping your metal furniture looking as good as new requires that it be refinished every 5 to 10 years depending on how much abuse it receives. Metal beds are sturdy and attractive pieces in any bedroom. But, over time, painted metal tends to chip, scratch and rust. Small nicks and scratches in the painted finish exposes the metal to the air and as result the metal will rust. Use paint to keep your metal bed looking like new. Lay the metal bed frame out on a drop cloth. Use low tack painter’s tape to tape off any parts of the bed that you don’t wish to paint. Wipe the metal bed down with a damp cloth to remove any dust. Brush away rust with a steel bristled brush. Use a swift back and forth motion to flake the rust off of the metal bed. Sand the bed using medium grit sandpaper.
