Fiberglass is used in many different applications. A few examples are boats, pools, hot tubs, showers and cars. Fiberglass is a very strong and lightweight material that, when applied properly, can last for a long time. Some common failures in fiberglass such as fractures or delamination can almost always be repaired back to original strength. The paint that is used on fiberglass, which is called gel coat, consists of fiberglass resin that is pigmented. This can also get cracks in it or even dull over time, but this also can be repaired efficiently. Sand the entire slide using a palm sander. Get in every crack and crevice. Be sure to scuff thoroughly; this is critical for the gel coat to bond properly. Wipe the entire slide with a rag that is damp with acetone. This will get any grease or dust off the surface.
