How Do You Refinish A Dresser In Faux Leather?
Taking an existing piece of furniture and transforming it into a rich looking conversation piece can be a rewarding task. Achieving the look of real leather on furniture can be tricky, and because a dresser is a large piece of furniture, care and planning are paramount when refinishing. Use these steps as a guide to refinishing a dresser in faux leather. Move the dresser to a location that offers the space to work on the piece from every direction. Some people choose not to refinish the rear of the unit simply because it is always out of view. This is a personal choice. Remove all of the drawers from the dresser to allow them to be worked on individually. With the drawers out, wipe all surfaces down with a damp cloth. Use a palm sander to remove the existing finish from the dresser. Take care not to damage the surface during this process. Some of the finish can be left as long as it is sanded enough to accept paint. Place a large amount of white glue or decoupage paste in a container.
