How Do You Refill An HP 57 Ink Cartridge?
The HP 57 ink cartridge uses a sponge at the top of the cartridge. Five holes are located at the top of the cartridge as well, located under the HP label. One of the holes is for the magenta ink, two for the cyan ink, and two for the yellow ink. Ink saturates the sponge at the top of each of the three ink chambers in the cartridge. The key to refilling the HP 57 ink cartridge is to slowly saturate the cartridge’s sponges through each of the five holes. Place the ink cartridge onto a paper towel. This will protect against any accidental ink spills. Peel off the label on the top of the ink cartridge. Place the label in a safe spot; you will need it later. Fill the first ink syringe with 5 milliliters of magenta ink. Insert the end of the syringe into the odd hole at the top of the cartridge and slowly fill it with ink.
