Following are the steps to refill a butane candle lighter. Remove the decorate knob from the end of the handle. Air in the tank of the lighter will prevent butane gas from entering the tank during the refill. To release air from the lighter tank, while holding the handle of the lighter away from your face, use a small headed screwdriver or a letter opener to push the refill valve. You will hear a brief release of hissing air. If you hear no hissing sound, that’s okay; it just means there was no air in the tank. Shake the butane gas refill.
