How Do You Reduce Chlorine Levels In Pool Water?
To keep your pool sanitary and safe to swim in, you want to ensure its chlorine concentration stays above 1 part per million (ppm) to prevent algae and other similar organisms from growing in it. However, you also want to ensure that the level stays below 3 ppm. Chlorine levels that are too high are just as bad as those that are too low, since too much chlorine can burn your eyes, turn your hair green and damage your vinyl pool liner (if you have one). Check the chlorine level in your pool daily if possible, but at least a couple of times a week, using a test kit or test strips. The concentration should read between 1 ppm and 3 ppm. If the levels are over 3 ppm, adjust your chlorine feeder system (one that adds chlorine directly to the pool) to decrease the rate at which it dispenses chlorine to decrease the level. If the levels are over 3 ppm and a saltwater generator produces the chlorine for your pool, dial the voltage down to a lower setting to decrease the rate at which it generat
