First step is stop doing any repetitive movements that may affect your wrist and cause pain. Inflammation injuries are better treated by keeping the affected region (here your wrist) immobile. This prevents aggravating the inflammation. Brace is helpful in keeping your wrist/thumb area immobile. The problem with the brace is that the longer you wear the brace, higher the chance that your skin may get affected it. Apply cold/hot treatment to get relief from pain.
