Have you ever wondered if all of those purchases that appear on your credit card were really yours? They probably are, but credit card companies have been known to make mistakes. Here’s how to reconcile your credit card statement to make sure that you’re not being charged for someone else’s purchase. Sort your receipts by the credit card that was used for each purchase. That is, put all of your VISA receipts into one pile, MasterCard receipts into another and so forth until all of your receipts are taken care of. Date order your receipts. Every receipt has a date on it. To make things faster when you reconcile your statement, put each cards receipt into order based on the date of your purchase.
