Early stages of kidney stones, sometimes called renal calculi, show no symptoms. However, even a slight movement of a kidney stone may cripple a person with excruciating pain. It is often compared with the agony and distress during childbirth. Check for severe pain in the back and lower abdomen. The pain starts suddenly as the stone moves in the urinary area. It may continue for a long time or recur periodically. Inquire about pain in the pelvis accompanied with fatigue. The patient may feel feverish or chilled. Watch out for falling energy level. The patient may experience dramatic energy loss and he/she might complain inability to walk. Test for traces of blood in urine. Deep orange color of urine and sharp pain in the kidney region is symptomatic of kidney stone. Look out for urine with blood in it or highly odorous urine, as it is indicative of a kidney stone.
