How Do You Recognize HPV In Women (Human Papillomavirus)?
• Be aware there are 100 different types of HPV. Upwards of 40 of these can infect the genital area. The strains are set into 2 categories, high-risk (cancer causing) HPV, and low-risk (wart causing) HPV. In roughly 90% of cases a healthy immune system will clear up the infection. This can be said for both high and low risk HPV. • Know what to look for if you suspect you have HPV. Watch for the following: • Genital warts appear as small bumps or clumps of bumps, mainly in the genital area. They can be raised or flat, little or big, and sometimes are clustered in a bunch or individually. They can appear on the vulva, in or around the vagina or anus, on the cervix, or thigh. The warts may show up within a few weeks or even months after infection. They may not appear at all. If left untreated, the bumps may disappear, stay the same, or grow in size or volume.
