How Do You Raise Red Wiggler Worms?

This is a great learning experience for kids and parents too! Start out with a plastic small plastic swimming pool. Drill tiny holes in the bottom to allow water to drain. Add 6-8 inches of soil. Water the soil so that it’s moist and not soggy. Apply 1-2 inches of bedding. This should consists of scraps of paper, shredded black and white newspaper, and leaves. Purchase about 100 Red Wiggler worms through mail order if you don’t mind waiting, or you could purchase them from a local bait shop. Add a small amount of cornmeal into the top soil. Keep moist. Add the worms. Cover the container with damp burlap or with boards. It must remain dark. Feed garbage to the worms every few days.
