How Do You Quilt A Spinning Star Pattern?
There are many versions of the spinning star quilt pattern. One of the most popular is a pinwheel in the center of what is known as the Ohio star, a four-point star. The basic pattern is created with a group of three different colored fabrics, cut into squares. It is one of those patterns that looks more difficult to create than it actually is when it is broken down into steps. Try making one spinning star quilt block (square) from scrap fabric. After you’ve mastered the procedure, you can finish a large project using this pattern. Cut your scrap fabrics into 3 7/8-inch squares. Cut six plain, light-colored squares for the background of the spinning star quilt pattern. Then cut four plain, dark-colored squares for the star and background. Cut six floral print squares to make up the pinwheel. Place one light-colored square on top of a dark-colored square. With your ruler, lightly mark the top square diagonally, from point to point.
