If you are attending an Easter brunch and don’t want to arrive empty-handed, a food basket is an excellent gift for your host. Easter gift baskets also make lovely gifts for Mom, your pastor or your neighbors, and are simple and fun to put together. While a basket purchased online is often an expensive proposition, you can design your own for a fraction of the cost using imagination and creative flair. Fill the bottom of your basket with shredded paper, crumpled tissue paper or Easter grass to create a nesting area for your gifts. Cut small pieces of fabric to wrap around votive candles. Tie them at the top with curling ribbon, leaving 2 to 3 inches hanging. Using scissors or a butter knife, curl the excess ribbon. Cut fabric circles large enough to overlap the lids of preserve jars by 2 to 3 inches. To dress up preserves, secure the fabric to the lid with ribbon, curling the ribbon ends with a butter knife or scissors blade. Put larger food and gift items in the basket first. Fill in
