Like all other Apple portable devices, the iPad has the Apple connector cable that you plug into the USB port of your Mac or PC. You can sync your songs, pictures, movies, contacts, etc. through iTunes.

If you’ve bought the $10 word-processor, spreadsheet, and presentation programs, you can transfer Microsoft Office documents to and from your iPad.

Another option is to email yourself the files and retrieve them wirelessly. You can open some documents on the iPad from your email account on the adjacent Apple programs to the Microsoft Office programs. The Apple program can edit your file and send it back via email.
