How Do You Put Bleach In Standing Water In Plant Pots?

0

A small amount of household chlorine bleach mixed in with standing water eliminates the build-up of bacteria that can cause damage to plants and flowers. Bleach will also prevent foul smells and discoloration from developing in the standing water. While most potted plants do not do well sitting in standing water for extended periods, some do. Empty the saucer of water, rinse well and wipe or scrub down the container to remove any existing bacteria, soil or plant debris that can breed disease. Fill the saucer with fresh cool water. Add two to three drops, no more than 1/8 of a teaspoon of household chlorine bleach for every half-gallon of standing water. Replenish the water and bleach in this same ratio, as the water is absorbed by the plant or evaporates.
