Dell printers come in a few different styles, but the most popular are the photo inkjet and all-in-one multifunction printers. The ink cartridges in these inkjet printers need to be changed often; fortunately, the process of installing one is simple and easy to follow. Turn on the printer. Open the lid or hatch. The cartridges should now be exposed. Press on the top of the cartridge carriers to lift the top. Push down, then slide out the old cartridges. Remove the tape that is protecting the contacts on the new cartridges. Be careful not to touch the cartridge contacts. Slide the new cartridges into the correct slots and press forward until they click in. Close the ink cartridge carrier lid. Close the hatch or lid. The printer may prompt you to align the cartridges. Follow the onscreen instructions, then print a test page to ensure the cartridges are installed correctly.
