How Do You Purge The Cooling System On A Chevy Van?
The cooling system on your Chevy van requires regular flushing to keep the engine running smoothly. If the cooling system is not purged at least once a year, deposits can build up in the engine cooling channels, making it difficult to keep the engine cool. If the engine overheats, it could fail. Your Chevy van provides a simple way to purge the system by using the bottom radiator hose instead of a separate purging valve. Loosen the screw on the hose clamp on the lower radiator hose. Slide the hose clamp out of the way. Pull the hose off the radiator and allow the radiator coolant to drain into the catch pan. Open the Chevy’s reservoir tank and flush the system out with water. Run the hose until the water coming out of the radiator is clear. The radiator is now purged completely.
