How Do You Pull Up Carpet & Polish Concrete Floors?
Lose the carpet. It’s probably dirty all the time and anyone with allergies will tell you that it’s just a big dust collector. Tearing out the carpet sounds easy but there can be some complications and some disappointments. Give yourself extra time to meet the unexpected and have all your materials on hand in advance. Pull up the carpet and padding in a closet or in an area out of sight. Make sure you have a concrete floor. Wear gloves, eye protection and a dust mask for the removal. Use a really sharp carpet knife or a utility knife with a new blade. Cut the carpet and padding into strips starting at one wall and going as straight as possible to the opposite wall. Cut strips less than 4 feet wide to make them easier to roll and carry. Roll the carpet strip starting at one wall straight to the opposite wall. Leave the padding in place for now.
