Current economic conditions are tough; as a result there has been an increase in the number of people facing homelessness. The National Coalition for the Homeless estimates that between 5 to 10 percent of homeless people in the United States have dogs or cats living with them on the streets. These pets provide comfort, companionship, protection and warmth to their homeless owners. These pets are usually taken care of to the best of their owner’s abilities and are well loved.
