How Do You Properly Vent A Bathroom Vent?
Bathroom exhaust fans, or sometimes known as bathroom vents, exhaust warm and humid air from the bathroom to the exterior of the building. If this warm and humid air is not exhausted, it can cause condensation problems, mold problems and wood rot in the bathroom. Bathroom exhaust fans are usually mounted in the ceiling and then ducted through the attic or crawlspace to an exterior wall. If you want to properly vent a bathroom vent, you’ll need metal ducting and a few tools from a home improvement store. Go into your attic or crawlspace and locate where the exhaust duct will penetrate the exterior of the building. Drill a 1/4-inch pilot hole from the inside out to mark out a reference point outside. Set up your extension ladder outside and drill a 4 1/4-inch hole through the exterior wall with a hole saw. Use the 1/4-inch hole you drilled in Step 1 as your center point.
