The Bible is the most sacred book of Christianity. It is commonly titled “the Holy Bible”. Therefore, people are hesitant of throwing away a Book that has strong sentiments and sacred beliefs associated with it. In the middle ages it was a deadly sin to dispose of a Holy Bible in any way, but in modern times there is little in a church-sanctioned policy stating a preferred method for the disposal of ruined or damaged beyond repair Bibles. • Preserve it. If the Bible has special significance to someone but the book is worn out or too fragile to use, consider the value of the book; perhaps it should be preserved as a family heirloom. You would not throw away a book that contains family birth, marriage and death records for several generations. • Donate it. Ask if the Bible has any special features.
