How Do You Properly Cook A Lobster?
Lobster can be grilled or baked, but the traditional and most popular method is boiling. Steaming yields even better results; not only is it easier, it provides better control and causes less mess. Properly steaming a lobster is a matter of timing. Make some minor adjustments according to the number and size of the lobsters. Fill pot with about 2 inches of water and place a steamer basket or colander into the pot. Cover and bring to a boil. Place the lobsters in the pot and cover. While steaming, shake pot occasionally to help the lobsters cook evenly. Timing is the most important part of the process: cook 1 lb. lobsters for 7 minutes, 9 minutes for 1 1/4 lb. lobsters and 10 minutes for 1 1/2 to 2 lb. lobsters. Lobsters will be bright red when cooked. Remove lobsters from the pot using kitchen tongs and place them in a bowl or colander in the sink. Once the lobsters are in the sink, run cold water over them to stop the cooking process and cool them for easier handling. Serve lobster by
