How Do You Propagate Canna Lilies?
Canna Lilies are beautiful, tropical looking flowers. With the flowers being different shades of red, yellow and orange and with leaves the shades of green and purple, the flowers add lovely color to any garden. They flower from mid-summer until fall. If you want some Canna Lilies in your garden, it’s easy to propagate the seeds to grow these beautiful flowers. What’s best about growing the flowers from seeds, is you’re able to experience the full life of your lilies. Fill a small bowl with tepid water. Place the seeds in the bowl and soak them for one to two days. File, very carefully, the black coating on the seeds with a piece of fine sandpaper. This will help the water feed the seed quicker. Place the seeds into a small pot with potting soil. Keep the seeds indoors until they starting sprouting and it’s springtime. Transplant the Canna Lilies into the ground when there is no threat of frost.
