How do you pronounce the name “Bast”?
I am seldom wrong. I think I made one goof in the last twenty years ago, and have greatly impressed many people of other lands by being able to CORRECTLY pronounce their name. With the fact in mind that I am not perfect, and since I do not know the country of origin, I will surmise it rhymes with “past” and may well be mid-European and a slight contraction of “Basta” which MAY be pronounced as a rhyme with “pasta,” but usually is not. I have found it sometimes helpful to ask and then if you still do not understand, ask them to say it slowly. I have never had to do this, but perhaps asking for something it rhymes with may help also. If you want to make a friend, then ask. She will respect you for it.
