Flowers can’t last forever, but it seems like you should be able to preserve them for more than a day or two. It takes only a little preparation and a few simple steps to prolong the life of flowers you’d like to look at for a few days longer. Choose the flowers. If you are choosing the flowers for the arrangement, try to select those not yet fully in bloom. This will allow for further development and will prolong life in the vase. Some flowers do well picked while still in the bud. These tend to be flowers that bloom rapidly, like roses. More gradually blooming flowers should be picked just short of their maturity. Gather flowers. Flowers are best picked in the morning or late in the day, when they are most fully nourished and watered.
