While many car alarms come with multiple remotes, they can break or get misplaced. You can buy a replacement remote at automobile parts stores or electronic stores and avoid paying a fee by programming it yourself. Put the key in your vehicle’s ignition and make sure all the doors and the trunk are closed. Turn the key two clicks to the right, one click short of the “Start” position. Press and release the “Override” button on your car alarm remote five times in less than eight seconds. Press the “Lock” button on your car alarm remote. Remove the key from the ignition and test your remote.
