The first was on my right foot, but when I was hit by a car on my left leg, my left foot swelled so much that I had 7 or 8 (I lost count) operations on that left big toenail. These operations were at County Hospital, so they did the quick ‘n’ easy (and cheap) operation that merely cuts the offending nail off but leaves the root. The last doctor must have looked at my chart (and history) and had pity on me and did the more expensive, time-consuming whack off the side of the nail and remove the root so it doesn’t grow back, permanently removing the problem. This was what was done the first time on my right foot. If you have even one grow back of the ingrown, go for the more expensive permanent cure.
