How Do You Preserve Wood Handle Kitchen Knives?

0

Over time, wood handle kitchen knives dry out from repeated use and harsh detergents. You can put the luster back in with a simple and inexpensive pantry item you already have. And you can do it in just minutes! This process may also be used for wood handle forks and spoons. Pour a small amount of Canola Oil in a small bowl. About 1/4 cup coats about 2-3 dozen knives. Using a clean paint brush, hold the knife by the blade over bowl and generously coat wood handle with oil. Allow any excess oil to drip back into bowl. Wipe excess oil off of wood handle with paper towel. Place knife on newspaper to allow oil to soak in and dry. I allow approximately 4-6 hours to completely soak in and dry before putting knives away. This process may need to be repeated once each year depending on how often you use the knives and your method of washing them.
