Ground squirrels are beautiful creatures who add a touch of nature to the urban landscape. When one passes away it’s only natural to want to preserve its beauty to always be displayed in the yard or around the home. Lay the ground squirrel on his back with his head pointing to the right to prepare it for taxidermy. Separate the fur over the breast bone and slice the squirrel just under the skin in one swift movement. If the squirrel is a male, also slice along one side of the testicles. Slice the squirrel on the back of the wrists and the inside of the ankles. Separate the tail underneath and pull it so it is hanging out. Peel out the feet through the slices of fur by first severing the toes and leaving them in the skin. Pull back the skin over the ground squirrel’s ankles and wrists.
