Floral arrangements and bouquets are often expensive and elaborate and it is a shame to have to simply dispose of them after use. Preserving floral arrangements is a great way to create a keepsake that will last for many years to come. There are different methods used to preserve flowers including hanging and chemical drying, which are both easily completed at home. Prepare the flowers for hanging by removing any leaves from the stems. Hammer a nail in the wall of a dark, low-humidity location of your home. Suggestions include attics and closets. Avoid basements, garages or other areas that are generally higher in humidity. Secure the flowers using a string tied around the stems. Wrap the string around the stems enough times to ensure the flowers will not slip. Attach the string to the nail and allow the flowers to hang upside down for one to two weeks until all moisture is removed.
