Storm season is at it’s peak. Evactuating people, dogs, and cats is one thing, but HOW do you move horses in a hurry? Here are some tips that might just make a huge difference for you! Have all of your vaccination records, Coggins tests, registration papers, or identification papers packed in a small heavy duty file box and ready to go. Pack spare halters and lead ropes, leg wraps, medications, grooming supplies, etc in a locking trunk. Take the time to search online for horse rescues or boarding barns that are willing to take in storm victims. Make contact with several of them well before any hurricane is on the horizon, and plan transportation and your evacuation route as well.
