You’ll be relieved to learn it’s not too complicated; all you’ll need is a few household items and some old-fashioned elbow grease. Before you know it, you’ll be calling the carpet installers and your plain basement slab will be a thing of the past. Step 1 Sweep or vacuum the basement slab, taking care to remove all loose dirt and dust. Step 2 Pour the floor-cleaning product into one gallon of hot water, using the amount of cleaner as recommended by the manufacturer. Step 3 Wash the basement slab floor, using a two-sided mop and scrubbing any heavily soiled spots with the abrasive side of the mop. Rinse the mop often and change the cleaning solution when it becomes dirty. Step 4 Rinse the floor, using hot water and the cleaned mop.
