To become a teacher in Florida, you must apply for a Florida teacher’s certificate. Florida offers two types of teacher certificates, the Professional Certificate and the Temporary Certificate. While both require a bachelor’s degree and mastery of subject area, according to the Florida Department of Education’s (DOE) website, the Professional Certificate requires mastery of general knowledge, professional preparation and educational competence, shown through approved college courses and programs or through passing the Florida Professional Education Test and the Florida General Knowledge Complete a CG-10 application.
