How Do You Prepare Employees For Change In The Workplace?
Organization change efforts require that people adjust how they function. This article shows managers how to have open discussions with employees to prepare them for an upcoming workplace change. Step 1 Make sure that you fully understand the reason for changes – the business case. If your manager has not been clear about this, be persistent until you understand why the change is important. If your manager does not have the answer, go to someone who does. Step 2 Write short paragraphs describing the changes, and rationale for it, that need to take place, the value of these changes for the individuals, the team and the organization, and any adjustments people will need to make in their performance (reset expectations). This exercise is important to make sure you understand the changes well enough to discuss them with your team. Step 3 Create and send out a meeting agenda and schedule the meeting.
