How Do You Prepare Cantonese Shrimp Chow Mein?

0

There are hundreds of “authentic” recipes for Chow Mein, just as there are thousands of Chinese restaurants, but we have found this one delicious, quick to prepare, and using ingredients that are easy to find in almost any supermarket. Step 1 (Before you begin, have the cornstarch measured in a little bowl so you can quickly add the water when needed and add it in the last step) Now add the oil to a large skillet (or wok, if you wish) and saute onion until soft, but not browned. Add mushrooms and cook about two minutes, stirring now and then. Step 2 Add green pepper, chopped celery, chicken broth and soy sauce; cover and cook for about one minute more. Step 3 Add the bean sprouts and cook for 30 seconds, then the bamboo shoots (if you use them), the water chestnuts, and the shrimp. Cover it all and cook until the sauce is just bubbling. At this point, add the cornstarch and water mixture, and stir until the Chow Mein is slightly thickened–and it’s ready to serve! We suggest you serve
