• Make sure to warm up your voice before you do any performing or practice. It is important that your vocal cords are warmed up and ready to do their job. • Drink plenty of room-temperature water. Drinking water that is too hot or cold will stun your vocal cords and will make them stressed, and your singing will not be at its best. • Don’t get too nervous, else your throat will close up and your vocal cords will have to be warmed up again. When you are singing, make sure you are breathing from your diaphragm and not your chest.
