How Do You Prepare A 4-H Pig For Show?
Work with your pig a few weeks before the show to save your animal from excess stress during the event. Step 1 Wash your pig using mild soap or a horse shampoo. Step 2 Use a soft-bristled scrub brush to wash stains or tough dirt from your pig’s legs and belly. Step 3 Shave your entire pig a few days before the show. Use a 3/4-inch guard or 1-inch guard on pet clippers. Step 4 Keep in mind that it may take two or three days to clip your pig. Work slowly and gently. When the animal gets tired, take a break so you can both rest. Step 5 Clean your pig at the show, making sure its feet are clean. Step 6 Wipe all sawdust from the pig before you take it into the ring.
