How Do You Prep A Concrete Basement Floor With Muriatic Acid Before Painting?
Taking a concrete basement floor from drab to dapper isn’t as easy as simply rolling on a coat of paint. Like any painting job, if the surface isn’t prepared properly, the paint is likely to peel. However, with a minimal amount of preparation work, which includes using muriatic acid to etch the surface, you can turn any boring concrete floor into the exciting and lasting color of your choice. Sweep and/or scrape debris and dirt from the floor. Pressure wash the surface if possible to speed up the process. Clean the basement floor with a solution made of one part bleach, one part water. Liberally scrub the cleaner onto the floor with a stiff brush, but don’t forget to mop up the solution and rinse the floor often. Allow the floor to dry, using floor fans if possible.
