How Do You Pray The Rosary Properly?
Though a rosary certainly looks like a necklace, it is not meant to be worn! A rosary is used as a focus for prayer, and using the rosary while you pray is called “praying the rosary”. A rosary is divided into five “decades”, separated by the large beads. Each decade represents a Mystery. The Joyful Mysteries should be said on Mondays and Saturdays, the Luminous Mysteries on Thursdays, the Sorrowful Mysteries Tuesdays and Fridays, and the Glorious Mysteries on Wednesday and Sunday, unless that Sunday is during the Christmas season. Hold the rosary in your hands, which may be in prayer position, focusing on the crucifix. With one hand, the other holding the rosary, make the sign of the cross, then saying the Apostle’s Creed.
