Kids love to splash and play in a pool and it’s best they take lessons to learn how to swim. If your kids are enrolled in an outdoor swim class this summer, take extra care with safety to prevent accidents and sunburn. Teach your child and yourself early to prepare them for a lifetime of safe fun in the sun. Apply a high SPF. Don’t forget the tops of ears and feet and lip balm with SPF. Cover the head with a hat, swim cap or put sunscreen on the scalp. Give children plenty of fluids and frequent visits to the shade. Have the child drink fluids and be sure to apply aloe vera or hydrocortisone cream which will help with swelling and pain if the child gets a sunburn.
