How Do You Pour Lye Soap Into Molds?
You can easily make soap by melting any mix from a craft store and pouring it into soap molds to shape. You can use molds designed for use as soap molds or you can make your own mold from household products like baking or muffin tins. Wash and dry the soap molds and then set them on a flat surface. Consider putting the molds on a cutting board to insulate the flat surface from the heat of the soap mix. Prepare the soap mix and allow it to cool. Soap over 140 degrees F can warp or bend the soap molds. Use a ladle or a liquid measuring cup with a spout to pour the warm soap into the molds. Leave 1/2 to 1 inch between the soap and the top of the mix to allow for expansion as the soap hardens. Spray rubbing alcohol on top of the soap to help eliminate air bubbles. Put plastic wrap over the top of the molds to seal out air while you allow the soap to cure. Pour a single layer of soap following the steps in Section 1.
