Concrete floors may need to be resurfaced for a variety of reasons, to clean up their appearance, repair damage, or as part of a project that connects them to an extended floor plan. You can pour new concrete over an old concrete surface after adequately preparing the old surface to receive the new covering. If you do not do this preparation, your new concrete will not adhere to the old and will wind up cracking significantly. Clean the concrete surface by sweeping it clear of any debris. Starting from a back corner and working out towards a point where you can exit the slab, pour concrete etching acid on the old concrete and spread it around with a push broom, scrubbing the acid into the surface as you go. When the entire surface is covered, wait 1/2 hour and then hose the acid off the concrete with clean water.
