How Do You Pour Concrete Footers For Jack Posts?
Sturdy concrete footers and jack posts are used for house raising or levelling sagging floors, porches, sun decks and room additions. Traditionally, they are bult short and stout. They should be steel reinforced and poured with high strength concrete. In this tutorial, I will show you how to pour concrete footers for jack posts. Layout After determining the number & location, mark off and clear the area of debris. In this example, I used surveyors spray paint and a pair of loppers. The original support posts for this addition rested on stone blocks which were set just under the surface and fell victim to frost heaving. Two out of four simply fell out of place. Over time, this caused the addition to sag. This sagging caused the built-in pan style gutters to buckle. The soldered-seams separated, allowing rain water to infiltrate the soffit, wall, sill and floor, causing a whole lot of damage! This could have been prevented, had the footers been built properly.
