Ahh, potty training…that elusive period of transition between diapers and underwear. We all wonder about what to do, how hard to push it, and what to do if it never happens, which we all fear will be the case. It can be pretty simple, if you just have patience. WAIT TILL YOUR CHILD IS READY. Don’t put an 8 month old on a potty, just don’t. I’ve heard those stories, and they disturb me. Eight month olds are just not ready, neither are most 18 month olds. Sorry. It’s true. I would recommend that you wait till the child shows an interest, or nears the 3rd birthday, whichever comes first. PUT A FAVORITE DOLL OR STUFFED ANIMAL ON THE POTTY. Your child’s favorite doll or teddy bear can be used as an incentive. Place the toy on the potty, and pretend it has used the bathroom.
