How Do You Polish Silver Or Copper Without Harsh Chemicals?
As the weather shifts to Spring we’re all looking to bring everything in our homes back to their sparkling best. Some of our toughest challenges come with polishing those beautiful vintage silver or copper pieces we own without introducing toxic chemicals into our homes. The articles offers some safe, non-toxic, yet completely effective ways to clean those wonderful metals. Polishing Silver: Line your sink or a bucket with aluminum foil. Drop in the tarnished silver. Pour in enough boiling water to cover the silver. Add a cup of baking soda and a dash of kosher salt. Allow to sit for 5-10 minutes. (Tarnish will transfer to the foil). Remove silver and polish dry with soft cloth. To polish silver that can’t be immersed: Replace silver polish with toothpaste. Apply small amount of toothpaste to soft cloth; polish silver.
