Gelcoat also has additives that protect against ultraviolet rays, which cause oxidation. Many times sun exposure will cause oxidation to occur over time but this can be restored fairly easily. All the supplies you need can be found at marine supply stores. Scrub all the dirt and grime that has built up on the surface of the gelcoat using a sponge and a cleaning solution. Thoroughly clean the surface until it is completely clean. Remove all the oxidization on the surface of the gelcoat using superfine wet sandpaper. Wet sand the entire surface until it is smooth and dull. Clean the remaining gelcoat residue off of the surface using clean water and a rag. Apply the gelcoat sealer to the entire surface with a foam applicator pad. Let the sealer dry and wipe away any
