How Do You Polish A Rough Concrete Floor?
Concrete floors are rough and gritty. Sweeping un-polished floors stirs up dust and the floors never seem clean. Polishing the rough concrete gives the concrete a smooth texture. In addition, a smooth concrete is easier to maintain than rough concrete. Polishing the rough concrete seals the pores on the concrete, reducing stains and creating a more washable surface. Seal cracks and joints with epoxy filler. Use a small trowel and press the epoxy filler into joints and all cracks. Smooth the edges so they are level with the floor. Allow the epoxy filler to dry according to the manufacturer’s directions on the container of the epoxy filler. Place a dust mask over your mouth and nose before you begin polishing rough concrete. Place the 40-grit diamond polishing pad on the concrete polishing machine. Start from the furthest corner of the room and work slowly in 6 foot by 6 foot sections to polish the rough concrete floor. Repeat with 80-grit and then 150-grit metal-bonded diamond polishing
