“The Sims 2” lets you manage a virtual family, performing tasks such as including building their home, buying new furniture and getting them jobs. Typically you’ll be left to stare at an empty house when your Sims go off to work, but the expansion pack “The Sims 2: Open for Business” makes work an active part of the gameplay. Your Sims can run their own businesses, from a family-owned florist operated out of the home to a massive car dealership on a community lot. Start a business by using your house’s phone and selecting “Start a Business.” You can choose to start a business on your home lot or by purchasing a separate community, depending on your available funds. Set the “Open” sign near the front door of your business. Have your Sim interact with the sign to set it to “Open” or “Closed” so your customers and employees know when to come and when to leave.
