How Do You Play Sets In Volleyball?
“In the indoor game you can run different lineups, or sets, as they’re called, to take advantage of your players’ skills,” says Rob Heidger, pro beach volleyball player. “The two most common sets are the 6-2 and the 5-1.” “Beginners usually play the 6-2 because it allows you to both serve and hit, which raises your confidence at playing all of the positions,” says Heidger. Line up three players in the front row and three in the back. Space your two setters on opposite rows and diagonally from each other so you always have one setter in the front row. Rotate clockwise with each sideout. Surprise your opponents by having both setters share duties from rally to rally. “Switch to the 5-1 if you are more advanced and have one excellent setter and strong hitters,” says Heidger.
