How Do You Play Quidditch (No Magic Required)?
A real life sport based on the fictional game “Quidditch” from the Harry Potter book series is becoming popular in high schools and colleges. It is a combination of handball, basketball and dodgeball. Here are the rules to start playing. First set up three goals on each side of a field. The referees/snitch throwers should each go to a different side of the field. The size of the field should depend on how much running you want to do. Divide each team into the positions. You need one keeper, three chasers, two beaters and a seeker. Also know the names of the balls. The volley ball or soccer ball is called a “quaffle”, the dodge balls are called “bludgers” and the little bouncy ball is called a “snitch”. Here is a brief outline of each player’s job. These will be explained in greater detail later. The job of the keeper is to guard the goals. The chasers basically play 3 on 3 handball. The beaters throw the beaters at the chasers.
